SEAIR starts 35-minute flights to Northern Palawan
Domestic carrier South East Asian Airlines (SEAIR) recently announced that it now offers daily flights to Busuanga (Palawan) via Dornier 328, cutting travel time from 1 hour and 10 minutes to only 35 minutes.
With upgraded facilities and longer runway, the Francisco Reyes Airport in Northern Palawan may now safely accommodate more and larger aircraft.
“The Dornier 328 aircraft significantly reduces travel time for tourists, thereby allowing them to maximize their travel schedule and reach Palawan with less hassle. Our passengers will be able to make more fulfilling overnight trips or even day trips to resort destinations in Busuanga and Coron,” said Patrick Tan, VP for Commercial Affairs of SEAIR.
The Dornier 328 is a state-of-the-art 32-seater twin engine turboprop aircraft which demonstrates a combination of technology, power and performance. It has a maximum cruise speed of 620 kilometers per hour and a maximum altitude of 31,000 feet. It also has exceptional take-off and landing performance, allowing SEAIR pilots to operate securely on relatively short runways
SEAIR has been providing service to Palawan since 1995 and continues to reaffirm its commitment to the province by offering as much as 40 flights daily – the most number of flights offered by any domestic airline in the country. SEAIR’s destinations to Palawan include Busuanga, El Nido, Rodriguez, Puerto Princesa and Cuyo Island.
The airline now flies 26 routes to 18 local tourist destinations: Manila, Caticlan (Boracay) and Cebu in Visayas; Clark in Northern Luzon; Baler and Tablas in Southern Luzon; Daet in Bicol; Busuanga, Cuyo, El Nido, Puerto Princesa and Rodriguez in Palawan Province, Camiguin, Cotabato, Pagadian, Zamboanga, Jolo, Tawi-Tawi in Mindanao.
For inquiries, please call SEAIR Reservations at + 632 849-0100 or visit www.flyseair.com.

A year ago, been to El Nido, downtown you’ll find a small community below the limestone cliffs, Landing to its spine-chilling airport triggers my adventurous side, it’s really a virgin paradise, you can even go for a dip beside the airport runway. its really the best destination for nature lover like me, perfect scenery, relaxing warm rockish water of its fascinating islets. I hope you have a direct flight to El Nido. We wanted to go back there. More Power!

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been fascinated by the animals from the African Safari - giraffes, zebras, lions, etc. When I knew that we had our very own “mini” safari in Calauit Island Game Preserve in Busuanga, I immediately placed it as one of my bucket list’s top items. As cliche as it may sound, if I win it’s gonna be a dream come true!

Why I want to go to Busuanga via SEAIR?
I always wanted to go to Busuanga, Palawan eversince I heard stories about the rich biodiversity of the place from my friend J Ann, who was able to go there by being a volunteer to a wildlife study. She would often share her experiences doing faunal inventory (studying the species count and richness of wildlife species) everytime we see each other. Truth is, I am an environmentalist by heart. I value biodiversity and wildlife. And I am in love with nature.
I dream of going to Calauit Game Reserve and Wildlife Sanctuary in Calauit Island, northwest tip of Busuanga. If I am not mistaken, the Sanctuary is separated from the mainland by a wide belt of dense mangrove on the western side of Illutuk Bay. It is said that the area has undulating topography ranging from narrow coastal plains through widespread grasslands to low ranges of hills which stretch across the land from northeast to southwest, with altitudes up to 175 meters. Not to mention the savannahs which intersperse the habitats, flanked by high forest, secondary regenerating forest bamboo thickets and riparian woodlands. That’s really a wow.
Having read a lot about the Sanctuary, I can say that it would give you a feeling of excitement as if you are in Africa. A dream come true for me, if given a chance to step my bare feet on the vicinity.
One of the attractions in Busuanga is the Black Island that serves as the municipality’s sources of edible nests and guano for fertilizer. Inside the Black Island caves, you will find writings on the wall in Spanish. I am an adventurous person and would love the challenge of exploring its interior for discovery, mystery, and of course, fun.
Busuanga is really a historical municipality. Busuanga is the largest in the Calamian group of islands. What makes Busuanga special, in addition to the game reserve and wildlife sanctuary that I have mentioned, are the wrecks around Coron Bay. According to my friend, taking an average of day long trips from the town proper, you can savour the sight of twelve wrecks identified in diveable depths.
Below are the reasons (in summary) why I want to go to Busuanga via SEAIR:
1. The brilliant, atypical wildlife inhabiting Busuanga – I want to see an otter, monitor lizard, and the so-called “pilandok” (which is endemic or can be seen only in Palawan) in a natural setting (unlike those in zoos)
2. The enormous forest and tree crops present in Busuanga plus its beaches and lagoons – I want to witness these precious environment and observe how people of Busuanga promotes biodiversity awareness and conservation
3. I want to get there through a hassle-free trip. I have read that, via SEAIR, it would only take 35 minute travel time – It’s good SEAIR now offers flights to Busuanga.

Free SEAIR Tickets to Busuanga, Palawan
Here are two parts of my entry:
(1) Northern Palawan is home to the most pristine natural habitats in the world. And for that alone would be enough reason to want to go there, whether its free or not. Who wouldn’t want to go there to be able to see El Nido and go diving or swimming in the clear blue waters? Or walk hand in hand along the beach with your loved one? Or maybe walk barefoot in the sand and bask in the glow of the sunset? Spend quality time with family or friends surrounded by natural wonders so unique and diverse?
(2) All you have to do is to write about why you would want to go to Busuanga via SEAIR of course, and have this post written by Friday, June 20, 2008, 8pm. Click here for more details. Now if you didn’t get chosen, you can call these number: SEAIR Reservations at + 632 849-0100 or visit http://www.flyseair.com and inquire about the other flights that won’t take you there for free
Thank you.

I had initially wanted to extensively research on Busuanga, Coron and Cuyo to create a blog on how beautiful Northern Palawan is — the obvious reason for wanting to go there and win this contest. After seeing most of the similarly-themed blogs, however, I thought it best to tell a story instead of what brought out my desire to travel the wonderful islands of Palawan and the rest of the Philippines.
