4 Days in Borongan

It’s a good time to surf in Borongan, with stronger waves coming in from the Pacific Ocean. And even if you’re not into surfing, it’s still a good time to observe rural life at Christmas and partake of the capital town’s specialty, spit-roasted pig or lechon stuffed with aromatic herbs, salted and basted with secret sauces.


 

Give Your Kids a Break

This is another modern-day invention, an oceanarium cum shopping mall. Your kids get a taste of marine life without a trip to the sea and you get to do your weekend shop. The oceanarium, which opened earlier this year, offers at least 46 water tanks replicating our underwater marine life plus a 25 meter walk along an underwater tunnel.


 

Feel Good Holidays

The prolonged rains and thunderstorms in Manila had been depressing me. These last few days I've been struggling to finish the last pages of a book, but my mind was sluggish. I knew I had to get away but my calendar permitted only only a few days. So when I was given a travel assignment to go to Boracay for a short break to check out the spas, I immediately accepted.


 

Island life

Club Paradise is on Dimakya, a 19- hectare island north of Busuanga, and a haven for divers and sun worshippers. From the air, Dimakya is like the hump of a jellyfish, hence its name, from the Filipino word for jellyfish or dikya. It’s a one-hour SEAIR plane ride from Manila to Busuanga airport, where the resort picks you up for a 30-minute drive on a jeepney to a small jetty where a fiberglass outrigger boat waits to take you to the island.

Sanctuario Spa promotes oriental healing traditions using indigenous Filipino and
oriental treatments, therapies and concoctions that soothe and revitalize the body, mind and soul. Alternative treatments like acupuncture, moxibustion, ba guan and reiki are also available.
